Harris R/C have decided to match its cells at a 35 amp discharge rate (instead of the old 30 amp rate). This puts us in line with many of the top international cell matching companies.
We are matching at 35 amps for a few reasons :
- It weeds out weak cells better
- Cells behave differently at different discharge rates
- We want you to be able to directly compare our top quality cells to those from overseas. We think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Things you need to be aware of, when reading 35 amp numbers :
- Voltage numbers appear lower on the label at 35 amps. It reads around .015volts lower than the old 30 amp numbers did. eg. Our new 1.175+ 35 amp cells are equivalent to 1.190+ cells at 30 amps!
- Runtime appears lower on the label at 35 amp discharge. To convert runtime numbers on the new 35 amp cells to their equivalent 30 amp numbers, multiply by 1.166. eg. 390 second discharge at 35 amps is equivalent to 455 seconds at 30 amps.
- Actual Internal Resistance (AIR) appears slightly higher on the label at 35 amp discharge. To convert, simply take off 0.1 - so an AIR of 2.2 on our new 35 amp cells is equivalent to 2.1 on the old 30 amp disacharge cells.
That should give you a good guide as to what to expect on the labels.
We feel that the benefits that come from offering cells matched at 35 amps outweigh the benefits of spectacularly high numbers that are achievable with a 30 amp discharge on these new super-high-voltage cells. We think racers are smart enough to make up their own minds, without needing to be dazzled by high numbers.
