BATTERY ASSEMBLY EQUIPMENT

Assembling battery packs without the proper equipment can be difficult. If you would like a tutorial on battery assembly, we can heartily recommend the one found at Balak Racing.

On this page, we go through your choices of assembly equipment we sell.

Battery Jig

Probably the most important part of your battery assembly equipment is a battery jig. This holds the cells in place while you solder them together.

If you can afford it, we highly recommend a Deans Battery Jig (pictured above, left). Not only does this hold the cells in place beautifully, but it also comes with a clip to hold the battery bar in place while you solder it! Brilliant! Personally, I wouldn't use anything else.....

Battery Bars

We stock Deans battery bars and others.

Wire

We sell and recommend only Deans 12 gauge racing wire for all R/C applications. This wire is great to work with, has ultra-low resistance, and is a proven quality product.

Solder

We sell and recommend only Deans Racing Solder for battery pack asembly. This solder is easy to work with, and includes flux.

If you don't want to use Deans solder, you can use standard 60/40 (lead/tin) solder from your local electronics store.

Single Cell Heatshrink

If you desire, you can put an extra layer of shrink wrap over each of your cells before assembly. Although not strictly necessary, many people like to do this as a little added protection for their cells, and also to protect their cells' matching labels.

If you use extra heatshrink on your cells, you need to be aware that this traps heat near your cells more than normal. Make sure your cells don't overheat or they may fail prematurely - definitely not something you really want to happen...
