The
reason why matched packs are better for R/C racing is
twofold : first, all battery cells have different discharge
characteristics, and second, when battery packs are
assembled, the cells are assembled in series - one joined
to another, joined to another, and so on.
If one cell in your pack gives slightly less performance than the other cells in your pack, you will find that the performance of the entire pack will suffer as a result. You will find that your voltage, while it might be fine at the start of a race when all of the cells in your pack are fully charged, will drop away noticeably over the course of your race, as each of the cells in your battery pack display different characteristics as they discharge. Remember : no two cells are created equal!
By
matching cells together with other cells which have
similar runtime, discharge voltage, and internal resistance
levels, you can severely restrict this drop in performance
over a full race distance. This is why matched packs
are prized by R/C racers everywhere.
Cell
matching is a long and involved process - which explains
why matched cells cost more than standard, unmatched
cells. We are confident, however, that our pricing
structure offers value for money matched cells, so
you can be a lot more competitive on the track, without
blowing your budget. Our lower grades of matched cells
are only a little more expensive than our unmatched
cells - and noticeably better performers on-track.
